About Waffle Plant
Waffle plants are a compact tropical houseplant loved for their deeply textured, crinkled leaves and rich purple colouring. The foliage almost looks quilted, with green tones on top and dramatic purple undersides that really pop in good light. They have a low, spreading habit, making them a great choice for shelves, shallow planters, or mixed containers where a softer, trailing look is welcome.
Caring for Waffle Plant
Waffle plants are fairly easy-going but do appreciate a bit more consistency than some other houseplants, especially when it comes to moisture and humidity.
Light Needs
Bright, indirect light is best to keep the colour vibrant and the growth compact. They can tolerate lower light, but foliage colour may soften and growth may slow.
Watering
Keep the soil evenly moist, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Waffle plants do not like to dry out completely, but they also need good drainage to avoid soggy roots.
Feeding
Fertilize once or twice a month during the spring and summer with an all-purpose houseplant fertilizer to support healthy foliage growth.
